Valuable Places

Lugar Valioso, a Valparaiso Project launched in 2001, identifies stores that are of irreplaceable value to the community and commerce of the city. Paz Undurraga included this as part of her Cultural Conversation presentation and a link to the website can be found under the Culture column in Course References.

Studio Work Archive File Naming

Everything created in the studio exists both in analog and digital form. Creating a standard system of naming files and objects is essential to maintain order. All digital documents must adhere to the following naming convention (or something similar that you develop and remain consistent with):

ie: 2011_12-01-01_cjt_p1_001.jpg
ie: 2011_12-01-02_cjt_valpo_001.jpg
ie: 2011_12-01-03_cjt_buttercup_001.jpg
ie: 2011_12-01-12_cjt_buttercup_002.jpg
ie: 2011_12-01-27_cjt_buttercup_003.jpg

All letters are lower case and the counter should always be in three digit format to allow for many items within each project.

Wiki References

Wiki page references and components blocks can be found at 2011 Valparaiso Sample Student Page. Copy base wiki code to insure your pages comply with the studio standard and make for easy navigation.

Valparaiso Site

Our site in Valparaiso extends from sea to sky in Cerro Santo Domingo. From the port fence at Errázuriz it extends up Clave through Plaze Echauren, turns left onto Aduanilla and climbs. After it touches Castillo, turning and bridging Blanquillo it extends down onto Blanquillo to climb further before rejoining Castillo to end at Camino Cintura. See 2011 Valparaiso Studio Site for a listing of site allocations. Line can be see on the following Google Map

Santiago Trip

We depart Wednesday, 8 June at 9am for our trip to Santiago. While there we will visit a range of contemporary and historic architecture. We will also tour and interact with the architecture programs at the Universidad Andrés Bello and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. It will be a great opportunity and we should prepare for colder nights (in the 30's), the ability to make lots of documentation, and desire to explore. We will return to Valparaiso in the evening of Sunday, 12 June.
