MATTER, SPACE, LIGHT, WRITE

Iteration One

My overall idea for the device was to create similar light and shadow conditions similar to those found at the Denver Art Museum and work with planar surfaces in order to create a contrast in hierarchy between the black shadow and the white light.

In the end of this BUILD iteration, the voids ended up working towards my goal in a more effective manner than the container/solid itself. This leads to the two playing together more, particularly since the two flip simple and complex between themselves.

For the REBUILD iteration, I made minor adjustments to my model by adding more voids to the cube itself, and letting that direct light and shadow in a new way, by tunneling through a mostly intact surface. This gave an additional layer of depth that was not present in the previous iteration.
