Dennis Cowan Memorial Scholarship (TAF) [TTU]

Summary: For a deserving student who otherwise would not receive scholarship assistance

HD&D Design Collaborative LLP Scholarship Honoring John L. Hannon, J. Ray Daniel, and Donald E. Dickerson (TAF) [TTU]*

Summary: Scholarship for a 4th year undergraduate student in the professional degree program at TTU College of Architecture

Requirements: Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants

Lubbock Chapter/AIA Scholarship [TTU]

This scholarship is available to students in their final year of study in the Master of Architecture degree program of the College of Architecture at TTU. Selection is based upon the candidate's portfolio, GPA, GRE test scores, financial need, and personal interview.

A.S. Megert Memorial Scholarship for Texas Tech University [TTU]

This endowed scholarship, established by Mr. and Mrs. Russell A. Megert in memory of Mr. Megert's father, A.S. Megert, is to provide support for an outstanding student who is pursuing a degree in either the structures specialization or the dual degree program in Architecture and Civil Engineering.

Shirley E. Megert Memorial Scholarship [TTU]*

This endowed scholarship was established in 1998 by Russell A. Megert in memory of his wife. Its purpose is to provide support for an outstanding student who has completed the fourth year in the College of Architecture at Texas Tech University and who is pursuing the dual degree program in Architecture and Civil Engineering.

Tim Terry – Huckabee Associates Memorial (TAF)

Summary: Endowed in 2001 by Chris Huckabee, AIA in memory of one of his employees, Tim Terry, who was an architectural student at the time of his tragic death. The criteria will include, but will not be restricted to students in the thesis level portion of their studies, who demonstrate creative abilities and attention to detail, excellence in the students' portfolio quality, and financial need.

Amarillo CSI Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship for students from Panhandle, South Plains (HS) design career scholarship

Requirements:

  • 3.0 overall GPA
  • 2.5 semester GPA
  • Undergraduates and graduates may apply

AIA Lubbock Chapter Scholarships

Summary: Scholarship for a student in their final year of study at TTU College of Architecture

Requirements:

  • Portfolio
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Financial need

Dallas Architectural Foundation Scholarships

McDermott/Swank Traveling Scholarship (used for travel expenses)

Requirements:

  • US citizen
  • Resident of Texas
  • 4th, 5th, 6th year architecture student or graduate student

Minority Architect Scholarship (for college expenses)

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a Dallas or Irving ISD school
  • Enrolled in or accepted into an accredited architecture program
  • Minority status
  • Economically disadvantaged
  • 3.0 GPA

Dallas CSI Foundation Annual Scholarship

Summary: Awarded to a student with a minimum of three years of college credit completed and at least one year remaining to complete their professional degree

Requirements:

  • Resident of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex
  • Enrolled in accredited architecture college
  • Financial need

Carl Daniel Architects

Summary: This award is presented to a student enrolled in the College of Architecture El Paso program.

Requirements:

  • Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants

Otto D. Grove Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship for a graduate student in good standing in architecture, education, or other related field at a college or university with Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma

Requirements:

  • Thesis summary & resume, support of faculty/letters from advisor, letter of interest

McCormick Architecture Scholarship

Summary: The scholarship will be awarded to a student who attended EPCC and has an associates degree from the architecture department. The student must be enrolled in the College of Architecture in El Paso, preferred 3.0 GPA and a 2.5 will be considered.

Requirements:

  • EPCC architecture student
  • Enrolled in the College of Architecture in El Paso
  • Preferred 3.0 GPA, 2.5 GPA considered

Gary Payne Annual Scholarship

Summary: For Texas Tech University College of Architecture

Requirements:

  • Student must be a resident of Texas and graduated from a Texas high school. Student must demonstrate work in design.

Pierce Architecture Scholarship

Summary: The Pierce Architecture Scholarship shall be awarded to a student enrolled in the College of Architecture. The student must be a junior or above in class rank with a 3.3 minimum grade point average. The student must demonstrate leadership skills and a passion for architecture with a high quality of design demonstrated in design studio and portfolio. A student that has multi-disciplinary pursuits in academics, work, activities, or volunteer work preferred but not a prerequisite.

  • Junior or above in class rank
  • 3.3 or higher GPA
  • Portfolio

Walker Family Educational Foundation

Complete the application and the items below. Submit the application via postal mail at the address specified on the application.

Attach a typed 300 to 500 word essay on a separate page with the following included:

  1. Why did you choose your major and how will receiving this scholarship will impact your ability to continue to attend college.
  2. What are your career interests/goals and what has motivated you toward this direction.
  3. What do you hope to accomplish with your life?(include community service and church work)
  4. Add any information about yourself that you feel is important for scholarship selection.
  5. Use this essay to let the scholarship committee know what type of person you are and why you deserve this award.

Each applicant must include the following with the application:

  1. Official, sealed school transcript
  2. Two letters of recommendation from school personnel who know your work.

West Texas Chapter AIA Scholarship

Summary: Awarded to students from the West Texas Chapter AIA geographical area.

Requirements:

Summary: Scholarship for full-time students pursuing a first professional degree in the TTU College of Architecture

Summary: Scholarship for a student who demonstrates qualities of leadership and enthusiasm for architecture and the ambition to become registered to practice architecture and continue in the profession after graduation

Robert L. Alexander, AIA Scholarship

Summary: Awarded to third year student in College of Architecture with a 3.0 or higher gpa, demonstrating strong interest in design and involved in student organization in the College.

Mark G. Anderson Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Awarded to an architecture student seeking a career in the design/build area of architecture.

Requirements:

  • Third year or higher

Captain Harley Barrick Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship to encourage students to travel in foreign countries (Europe)

Requirements:

Nolan E. Barrick Scholarship Endowment

Summary: For full-time upper-division graduate student enrolled in the professional degree program expressing interest in pursuing a career as a professional practicing architect

Edith & Bedrick Bartos Memorial Scholarship

Summary: To provide support for a student showing academic achievement and leadership qualities either in the College of Agriculture or the College of Architecture

Charles L. Birdwell Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Scholarships for students enrolled in Texas Tech University College of Architecture

James L. & Sheila Brown Endowed Scholarship

Summary: To recognize a deserving student enrolled in the TTU College of Architecture; scholarship can be renewed for 4th and 5th years of study with 3.0 GPA

Summary: For sophomore architecture major who will be beginning junior design in the next semester

Chapman Harvey Architects, Inc. Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Scholarship for students enrolled in the College of Architecture who have graduated from a United States high school.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate beginning their 3rd year or above
  • 3.0 or higher GPA
  • May be a non-traditional student
  • Scholarship can be considered for a study abroad scholarship

Carl and Mary Childers Scholarship

Summary: For architecture students entering the second year of the professional architecture degree program on the effective date of the award

Requirements:

Robert L. Coombs Bequest/Robert Leon Coombs Scholarship

Summary: For the establishment of travel scholarships in TTU College of Architecture

Requirements:

  • Full-time students in the College of Architecture enrolled in the architecture degree program
  • Undergraduate or graduate student in good standing
  • A statement of academic purpose
  • Information regarding the applicant’s travel plans
  • Rationale for the travel destination selected and the anticipated result of the experience

Curtis Group Architects/Thomas and Gloria Curtis Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Scholarship for a currently enrolled student in the graduate program, with an interest in pursuing a career in the area of healthcare architecture.

Requirements: Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants

Czapski Family Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Support students enrolled in the College of Architecture and either one of its dual degrees.

  • Will be used for architecture dual degree programs – Business or Civil Engineering

Demarest Family Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Awarded to a student in any of the programs in the Masters of Science degree in TTU College of Architecture

Requirements:

  • Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants

Theresa Bartos Drewell AIA Lubbock Recruitment Scholarship

Summary: Awarded to newly enrolled students in the College of Architecture. Established by the Lubbock Chapter AIA in honor of Theresa Drewell’s service to the chapter.

Requirements:

William C. Early Scholarship

Summary: To benefit outstanding students in TTU College of Architecture. Located in the TTU Alumni Association.

Requirements:

  • Upper division students with demonstrated excellence in architectural studies

El Paso Architectural Foundation Scholarship

Summary: To support scholarships awarded to students from El Paso, Texas attending the Texas Tech University College of Architecture Program in El Paso, Texas. Scholarships will be awarded by the College of Architecture Scholarship Committee in accordance to College scholarship guidelines.

Requirements:

  • El Paso students only

David M. Farrell Scholarship Endowment

Summary: To promote architectural graphic communication in sketchbooks. Sketchbooks are not restricted to one media.

Requirements:

  • Student will submit a sketchbook to the scholarship committee
  • The Committee will review and submit sketchbooks to appointed faculty member for final selection

Margie Firenza Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Scholarship for full-time students enrolled in the professional architecture degree program

Requirements:

  • Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants

Paul W. Foster Scholarship Endowment

Summary: The Paul W. Foster scholarship will be awarded to students seeking dual degrees in architecture and engineering or architecture and business. The student should have a 2.75 grade point average upon application. The preference of the donor is the scholarship will be awarded to historically underrepresented student populations at the College of Architecture at Texas Tech University.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Historically underrepresented populations at the TTU College of Architecture

FBT Architects Endowment for Excellence in Scholarship

Summary: Advance the profession of architecture by supporting and promoting architectural scholarships at the undergraduate level.

Wayne & Phyllis Gault Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Scholarship for a student who demonstrates creative abilities and considered by the TTU College of Architecture faculty to be exceptionally gifted and one of the most talented design students

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Completed at least two years at TTU College of Architecture
  • Financial need

Ronald E. & Peggy J. Gover Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Scholarship for recruiting entering freshmen at the honors level to the TTU College of Architecture

Requirements:

  • Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants

The Hand Family Scholarship Endowment

Summary: This scholarship is awarded to students who are participating in the Study Abroad Program. Preference will be given to those students with financial need.

Requirements:

  • Preference will be given to students with financial need.
  • Students must demonstrate leadership in the college by his/her involvement in student organizations and leadership roles within and good citizenship with the College and University.

Justin Haire Memorial Architecture Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Available to a full-time 3rd, 4th, or 5th year design studio architecture student enrolled in the professional degree program

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • 3.0 GPA in design courses
  • Demonstrate evidence of creativity aesthetic awareness and/or technical talent through a portfolio review of work from design, delineation, and technology courses

Houston Practicum + Studio Scholarship Endowment

Summary: To connect students to the practice of architecture in Houston as a window to the opportunities this vibrant city provides in the establishment of professional careers.

Requirements:

  • Highest caliber students participating in the program
  • Selection based on review of grade point average in design studio and
  • Cumulative grade point average and essay addressing desire to participate in the Texas Tech University Houston Practicum + Studio Program
  • Selection Committee will be composed of the faculty member in Houston and design studio faculty in Lubbock

Humphreys & Partners Endowed Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship for full-time students enrolled in the professional architecture degree program at TTU College of Architecture, 3rd year or above

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated superior creative abilities with excellent drawing skills & attention to detail
  • Outstanding portfolio quality
  • Financial need

Sybil Ruth & J. Carlos Jones Endowed Scholarship in Architecture

Summary: Scholarship for full-time students enrolled in architecture degree program with the intent of pursuing a career as a professional architect

Jeryl J. Jordan Memorial Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship for 3rd, 4th, 5th, year students enrolled in the professional architecture degree program

Jerry Kirkwood Memorial Scholarship

Summary: Scholarships for female students in College of Architecture who have demonstrated academic excellence, design skills, and adequate portfolio levels

James M. Langford, AIA Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Awarded to students participating in Texas Tech College of Architecture in El Paso

Requirements:

  • Awarded by Director of El Paso Program and designated committee.

Dr. Elizabeth Louden Undergraduate Scholarship Endowment in Historical Preservation

Summary: For an undergraduate student entering their third year of study who intends to pursue a specialization in Historic Preservation graduate education at Texas Tech University College of Architecture. A brief statement about why the applicant is interested in history and culture is encouraged to be submitted with the scholarship application.

Requirements:

  • 2nd year architecture student

M.P.I. Architects Endowed Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship for full-time students enrolled in the architecture degree program and demonstrates an extreme interest and propensity for architecture design

Requirements:

  • Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants
  • Entering sophomore level of study
  • Financial need

Mahaley-Thompson Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship awarded based on creativity and aesthetic awareness demonstrated through portfolio review of work from design and drawing studios. Located in the TTU Alumni Association.

Requirements:

  • Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants
  • 3rd, 4th, or 5th year architecture student
  • Completed the first two years of studies at TTU

Notes: Transfer students are not eligible; Awarded through Alumni Association

W.G. McMillan Construction Co. Scholarship Endowment Fund

Summary: Scholarship for architecture students pursuing a structures specialty or dual degree option in Civil Engineering degree; priority is given to the highest ranking student completing the 3rd year of the undergraduate program.

Requirements:

  • Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants

Notes: The scholarship may be renewed at the end of the 4th year if the scholarship criteria are maintained.

Robert and Dorothy Messersmith Scholarship in Architecture

Summary: Scholarship award for students with demonstrated aptitude for an interest in professional practice. Preference may be given to students enrolled in the dual degree program of architecture and business.

Requirements:

  • Normal standards for TTU College of Architecture
  • 4th and 5th year students
  • Applicants should have strong design skills

Albert R. Moffitt, Jr. and Doris E. Moffitt Graduate Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship for graduate students in the architecture program who have selected a specialty of architecture, historic preservation, or computer-aided design.

Requirements:

  • Portfolio
  • Undergraduate and graduate GPA
  • Financial need
  • GRE test scores
  • Personal interview

Albert R. Moffitt, Jr. and Doris E. Moffitt Undergraduate Scholarship

Summary: The Scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in architecture at the third year level with a 3.0 grade point average. The students should have the intention of pursuing the first professional degree.

Mike Moss AIA/Lubbock Endowment

Summary: Scholarship for an outstanding entering freshman on the basis of academic achievement, leadership, in school or community activities and a recommendation from their high school principal or counselor

Requirements:

  • Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants
  • ACT 22, SAT 1100
  • Declared major in Architecture

Douglas L. Moss, AIA and Mike W. Moss AIA, Scholarship Endowment

Summary: The Scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Architecture. The scholarship will be awarded in the following manner: 40% of available funds will be given to the student with 3.5 or above GPA who demonstrates leadership skills, enthusiasm for architecture and is involved in a student organization in the College of Architecture. 60% of the available funds will be awarded to the student with financial need. The student must be entering their second year in the College of Architecture.

Parkhill, Smith & Cooper, Inc. Architecture Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Spendable earnings from the endowment are to be used to award scholarships to students majoring in Architecture. Scholarship recipients will be selected be the college Scholarship Committee.

Requirements:

Albert & Jackie Payne Memorial Scholarship in Historic Preservation

Summary: Scholarship for full-time students majoring in architecture with an emphasis in historic preservation

Requirements:

  • Students will at least be junior level classification
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

George Tso Chih Peng Urban Studies Endowed Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship for promising students who are committed to building better human settlements for the future. It is awarded to graduate students in urban design, land use planning, urban studies, community development or related discipline.

Requirements:

  • Candidates for an advanced degree in one of the above mentioned fields or programs
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Financial need

Marshall L. & Mary V. Pennington Endowed Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship for graduate or undergraduate student pursuing an architecture degree program with a curriculum plan incorporating a strong emphasis of studies within the business discipline

Requirements:

  • Grade point requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants

Michael G. Peters, AIA and Donna J. Peters Endowed Fellowship

Summary: Awarded to a graduate student in the professional degree program in the College of Architecture.

Requirements: The student must demonstrate exceptional ability in design and have a strong understanding of building technology as evidenced by performance in construction classes and portfolio review of construction drawings and details.

Raymond D. Powell Scholarship Endowment

Summary: The recipient of the Raymond D. Powell Scholarship must be majoring in architecture, demonstrate excellent academic success, and leadership within the College. The recipient must be a U.S. citizen.

Samuel Thomas Ritter Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship for a student in the professional degree program who has exhibited outstanding creative talent and ability

Requirements:

  • Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants

Willard B. Robinson Memorial Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship for a graduate student or upper level undergraduate student based upon the student’s interest in history, preservation, and adaptive use. The scholarship will be used for travel and/or preservation related projects.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA
  • At least one year of architectural education remaining
  • Enrolled in the architectural History or Architectural Preservation curricula
  • A presentation/publication exhibiting the study experience gained through the scholarship must be provided at the end of the project.

James R. Sailor Memorial Scholarship Endowment (RTKL)

Summary: Scholarship for students with exceptional creativity in architecture design. Reflecting Sailor’s reputation for creativity, eligible scholarship recipients will have demonstrated abilities and exceptional talent in the area of design.

Requirements:

  • Full-time students enrolled in 4th year design studio in the design option program and will complete the thesis level of study the following academic year
  • 3.0 GPA cumulative
  • 3.0 GPA in design

Elizabeth Sasser / AIA Lubbock Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Scholarship for 3rd year students or above studying history or historic preservation

Requirements:

  • Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants
  • 3.0 GPA

Gary W. Smith Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Scholarship for a graduate student majoring in architecture with a 3.5 GPA

Requirements: Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants

Notes:

  • Preference to females not eligible for financial aid, second to additional students

Steve & Jill Souter Scholarship Endowment - pledge

Summary: Scholarship for student enrolled in M.S. or M.Arch program seeking certificate of specialization in Healthcare Facilities and Design. If unable to fit that requirement, certificate of specialization in Historic Preservation will be considered.

Requirements:

  • Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants
  • Demonstrated spirit of volunteerism or participation in community/university service programs.

Ed and Mary Stephens Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Scholarship for students in at least their junior year with a minimum of a 3.65 GPA.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in the academic community
  • Professional interest in design

Kenneth R. Tollin Endowed Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship for a junior or senior architecture major who evidences above average artistic or technical talent as observed by the faculty of the College of Architecture

  • Must be a resident of the West Texas area
  • Financial need

Robert D. Troy & Associates, Inc. Endowed Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship for students with the expressed interest of pursuing careers as professional, practicing architects. If the recipient maintains at least the scholarship minimums, the award may be renewed, as determined by the College of Architecture scholarship committee

Requirements:

  • Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants
  • 3rd year full-time students enrolled in architecture professional degree program

Vaughn Construction Community Foundation Scholarship Endowment

Summary: The Vaughn Construction Community Foundation Scholarship will award a minimum of a $1000 scholarship to a graduate student who is pursuing a certificate in Healthcare Facilities Design and has demonstrated an interest in practicing architecture in the State of Texas.

Requirements: Preference will be given to students who have 1) graduated from a Texas high school, 2) graduated from a Texas college or university and 3) have a demonstrated financial need.

Joyce and David Vernooy Study Abroad Endowed Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship to promote educational international travel as a supplement to the classroom experience of the architecture curriculum. Scholarship recipients will be students participating in College-sponsored study abroad programs.

Requirements:

  • Application requirements will be consistent with the college’s guidelines for scholarship applicants
  • Full-time graduate or undergraduate students in good standing in TTU College of Architecture

James C. Watkins, Paul Whitfield Horn Professor Scholarship

Summary: The James C. Watkins, Paul Whitfield Horn Professor Scholarship will be awarded to a student who is enrolled in the College of Architecture and is a first generation in their family to attend a college or university. The student must be entering their second year or above in architecture. The student will submit their sketchbook to the College of Architecture Scholarship Committee. For final selection, the scholarship committee will review and submit the top three sketchbooks anonymously to a three-person committee appointed by the Dean and composed of faculty members who are showing artists.

  • First generation of family to attend a college/university
  • Entering second year in architecture or higher
  • Portfolio

White Associates AIA Architects Endowed Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship for full-time students pursuing a first professional degree in the TTU College of Architecture

Requirements:

  • 3.0 GPA in architecture
  • Enrolled in the 4th or 5th year of studies at the time the award takes effect

Notes: A portfolio review with emphasis on the creative design process and appropriate structural system development will be the determining factor in the selection process.

Wilson Architecture Group Endowed Scholarship

Summary: Awarded to a student that (1) is in the professional degree program at Texas Tech University College of Architecture, (2) has at least a 3.0 GPA, (3) demonstrates interest in construction Technology, and (4) is entering their second year. This endowment was established in 2012 by Gary Wilson, AIA (Class of ’72), Dustin O’Brien, AIA (Class of ’03), George LeBeth (Class of ’06), Megan Phillips (Class of ’07), Andrew Tyler, Assoc. AIA, LEEP AP BD+C (Class of ’09), Gigi Gorham, Assoc. AIA (Class of ’09), Jenna Murphy, LEED AP (Class of ’09), Jarod Fancher, LEED AP (Class of ’10), Peter Smuda (Class of ’10), and Brandon Hoffman (Class of ’11). Brigadier General Walter L. Winters Scholarship Endowment

Summary: Scholarship to recruit outstanding first year students entering the College of Architecture. Preference will be given to students from the Permian Basin area. Primary preference will be given to students from Andrews, Odessa, and Midland, TX. Thereafter, preference will be determined by the College of Architecture.
