Lancelot Coar

The College of Architecture, in conjunction with this year's lecture series titled Generative Sensing, is excited to welcome | Lancelot Coar to lecture to our community.

Lancelot Coar is an Assistant Professor, in the Department of Architecture at the University of Manitoba, and a researcher at the Center for Architectural Structures and Technology (CAST).  At CAST, he explores the creation of dynamic architectural and structural systems that are defined by the transformative potentials of building materials. His research includes the design of flexible post-tensioned structural frames, tensile membrane structures, fabric formed and reinforced concrete structures, and fabric formed ice structures.  

Coar received Bachelor of Science degrees in Architectural Engineering and Civil Engineering from Drexel University, and later received his Masters in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley. His work has been featured in a wide range of publications and has been exhibited in museums and galleries in Europe, The United States, and Canada.  He is also a founding partner in CoRe Collaborative and a member of the performance art collective The Abzurbs.
