Lisa Iwamoto

The College of Architecture, in conjunction with this year's lecture series titled METADESIGN: After the Digital, is excited to welcome Lisa Iwamoto to lecture to our community on Thursday, April 25 at 5:00 pm in College of Architecture Gallery.

IwamotoScott Architecture is a San Francisco-based architecture and design practice led by LISA IWAMOTO and Craig Scott. IwamotoScott has received numerous awards and honors including: Architectural Record’s Design Vanguard 2012, World’s Coolest Office for Obscura Digital Headquarters from Inc. Magazine and Architizer; 10 to Watch from California Home and Design; Emerging Voices; Grand Prize for the History Channel’s City of the Future: San Francisco 2108; California Council of the AIA Emerging Talent Award; Young Architects award from the Architectural League of New York; Interior Design and Contract Magazines Best of the Year Awards; I.D. Magazine Design Awards; and AIA awards for various projects from the San Francisco, Boston, and New Jersey chapters. Their work has been published in hundreds of national and international journals, and been in numerous exhibitions.

Iwamoto is Professor at University of California Berkeley. Her research focuses on digital fabrication and material technologies for architecture. Her best-selling book, Digital Fabrications: Architectural and Material Techniques was published in 2009 by Princeton Architectural Press as part of their series Architecture Briefs. Iwamoto received her Master of Architecture degree with Distinction from Harvard University where she was recipient of the Faculty Design Award, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado.
