OUR MISSION

The College of Architecture is creating a Beaux Arts Ball Committee for the design departments here at Texas Tech. The Beaux Arts Committee is in search of volunteers to help plan the Beaux Arts Ball coming up in April.

BEAUX ARTS HISTORY

During the Roaring 20s, the Society of Beaux-Arts Architects threw an annual ball, as the students of the Ecole des Beaux Arts had in Paris that served as the key fundraiser for the Beaux-Arts Institute of Design’s educational programs and activities. The balls involved elaborate costumes and performances covered extensively with the theme of the Modernism during the Depression. The Beaux-Arts Ball was brought to New York City by the Beaux-Arts Institute of Design as a fundraising initiative. The Beaux-Arts Ball was an immediate success, both a great party and a great production from the design students, it was quickly adopted as a model by other organizations across the country. The College of Architecture at Texas Tech want to revive this event with the involvement of design students here in Lubbock.
