Community Design Lab ProfileFrom TTU College of ArchitectureMission
The Community Design Laboratory is affiliated with the Association of Community Design and the
International Play Association, with interdisciplinary associations across the Texas Tech University System including the Office of Economic Development and The International Center for Arid and Semiarid Land Studies. Since 1995 the Community Design Laboratory has completed over 50 projects that include affordable housing, downtown redevelopment initiatives, educational and governmental facilities, community centers, and community and regional planning. Consulting Design ServicesStudent research assistants and faculty work on a contractual basis to accomplish specific goals. Projects must be compatible with the research objectives of the Architectural Research Center, and commensurate with faculty expertise and areas of interest. Service LearningStudents receive educational credit and the university pays faculty salaries.Financial support is secured to support operational expenses including travel, materials, and graphic reproduction. Availability depends on faculty schedules and course objectives. Priority is given to community-based projects that support the public sector. |
