Formation and Materialization

This course is an intensive study of the relationship between parametric design processes and material systems. In particular, the class will dedicate time in investigating fabrication processes and the implementation of CNC machining processes in digital design strategies. Investigating morphological processes of shape and form development, structural implications with regard to materials and performance criteria in response to environmental conditions create the design process makeup for material systems. The design object of exploration is the discreet variation and modularization of surfaces.
