Ddf pdw SP2010 studentcommentsFrom TTU College of Architecturecomment below here: >> Thank you so much for putting these workshops together, despite the weather. I really enjoyed being a part of all of the sessions, and look forward to Marc Fornes' return. I think that the rhinoscript instruction was extremely well paced, organized, executed and moderated for all levels. Marc did very well in setting us all off on the right foot. I will be honest that the grasshopper lessons were slightly frustrating. I say this because there were many questions on par with 'where is this button?' In a fast-paced, one-day workshop familiarizing oneself with component names and toolbar location would have helped save a lot of time for Gil answering very basic (sometimes redundant) questions. I think that Gil is extremely skilled and has a very firm grasp on grasshopper, but for me the tutorials themselves were a bit limited. Instead of attacking several problems it seemed like we were attacking one problem and taking it to too far in my opinion. It just feels like we got a very good grasp of one solution for applying a component to a surface. I feel bad criticizing this because there just wasn't much time to start a whole new problem, but still wish we could have received instruction on a few other problems and possible solutions. So I guess for the grasshopper sessions next year, I think a memo needs to be sent out that instructs people on how to download grasshopper, then download some of the many basic tutorials that are on the web already. I think for participants next year, everyone should know how to connect components, how to disconnect, how to copy, what components are called, where they're located and maybe even what components might be looking for as input/output data -- the very basics of the interface, I mean. Overall, I was pleased though. It was a good value for the money and I would certainly participate in future workshops. << >> Thank you very much for the time and energy you have incorporated into the creation and, hopefully, the fruition of these workshops. The RhinoScript workshop was very insightful and fun despite it being cut short. I hope Marc will return! He teaches a difficult subject thoroughly well. The Grasshopper workshop was good and Gil is an intelligent and talented individual. However, the workshop was plagued with unnecessary questions mostly from students who were not familiar with Rhino, let alone Grasshopper. In the future, it might be best to permit only students who are very familiar with Rhino in the workshops. I basically agree with the comment above. Again, thank you very much for all you do for the College of Architecture!
