Iñaqui Carnicero & Lorena Del Rio Lecture

Iñaqui Carnicero and Lorena del Rio are principals of Iñaqui Carnicero Architecture Office, with offices in Madrid and New York. Their work has received recognition and numerous awards. Their buildings include Pitch House and Hangar 16 Matadero-Madrid, a renovated slaughterhouse. Mr. Carnicero, a visiting professor at California College of the Arts, designed the Spanish Pavilion for the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale, which was awarded the Golden Lion. His Ph.D. thesis “focuses on Louis Kahn and Robert Venturi’s discoveries in Rome regarding the perception of size in architecture

Lorena del Rio is an assistant professor of architecture at California College of the Arts. Her work focuses on the use of plastics in architecture. Educated at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Ms. Del Rio holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture, with a Ph.D. in progress.

Ms. Del Rio and Mr. Carnicero are also principals of *RICA studio.
