Architect, with expertise in Theory Criticism and Design, considered as one of the best Teachers in the USA, by Who is Who Editorial. Recipient of the Texas Tech Alumni Association award as best new faculty. With an intense academic career he has been teaching in fourteen Universities in the USA, Mexico, Spain and England, including: SCI-Arc, AA, and Art Center, Tulane, University of Colorado, Louisiana State, University of Arkansas, Texas Tech, University of Salamanca, Anahuac, UNAM, and Ibero-Americana. His education background, which is focused in both extremes: Historic Preservation and Architectural Design, derives in a particular interest in analyzing historic scenarios in order to design contemporary architecture within that context. As Director of Design at RoTo, (Michael Rotondi’s office) was responsible of designing the M. Toussaud’s Museum in Hollywood, and as Design Consultant he has been practicing in offices as: Pugh and Scarpa, Smith Group and Space, where he co-designed an international award winning 33 storey tower. Professor Gómez projects include residential, retail, museums and high-rise, from SD to CD’s. Former adviser for Mexico City’s Mayor, with expertise in the City’s Historical Center. Also as Cultural Adviser, under President Miguel de la Madrid, hosted dignitaries and First Ministers through Mexico City. Commissioner for the XVII Triennale di Milano, and participant at the Ecopolis Project, UNESCO-IAA in Bulgaria. Member of the International Academy of Architecture, the American Institute of Architects, the National Scholars Honor Society, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, Architectural Association in London UK, Colegio de Arquitectos de México, Vocal de la Sociedad de Arquitectos Restauradores de México, and President of International Affairs of the Mexican Society of Interior Design SMI. Mr. Gómez is also a Registered Architect in Mexico. He has more than 50 articles and papers published in three languages, and has lectured widely, including the Canning House in London, The University of Rabat, The Royal Dutch Institute of Architecture, American Institute of Architects, The Colegio de Arquitectos from Mexico, the Denver Art Museum, and the SF-Moca. |
