design workshop Spring 2010

following an emerging trend in contemporary architecture subsumed under the notion "algorithmic architecture" or parametricism, a rule based logic inherent in programs is the generator of space, form in concert with materials. This is programming and a kind of codification of the design intent via scripting languages or parametrics being part of 3d software packages.

"This allows to build consistency, structure, coherency, traceability and intelligence into computerized 3d form. By using scripting languages designers can go beyond the mouse, transcending the factory set limitations of current 3d software."K.Terzidis, GSD.
