Client:City of Canyon Project Manager/Principle Investigator:MaryAlice Torres-MacDonald, Associate Professor Design Team:Pavlina Ilieva, Hao Wu, Kyle Nix City of Canyon - Streetscape Master PlanThe CDL became involved with the City of Canyon through an effort to provide a schematic Streetscape Master Plan that would address infrastructure needs for the downtown while enhancing the environment for future business development needs. Community support was critical for this project since a portion of the anticipated funding was to come from an upcoming election for a 4b sales tax increase. In order for the community to support this item on the voting agenda, it was important that they visually understand the results of their support for the 4b increase. The project evolved through a series of meetings to address key objectives developed by the city and CDL. Objectives:
The objectives were met through the creation of a 10 minute video graphics CD / DVD presentation. This enabled the city to share the ideas of the design team with the community in a visually effective way. In addition, presentation boards were provided for display in City Hall and at local events, as well as a website link enabling a broader audience to view the design ideas for the downtown square. The design team was asked to built a replica model of the Randall County Courthouse based on computer generated graphics produced during the initial design work. Under the direction of faculty, the student design team built a model to be used in fundraising efforts for the restoration of the Randall County Courthouse. | |
